Care
Thank you for bringing Green Heron Ceramics into your home. Each piece is handmade in small batches, and a little variation in shape, glaze, and finish is part of what makes it unique.
Everyday use
- Food safe: All functional wares are made with food and dishwasher-safe glazes
- Handmade variation: Expect subtle differences in glaze movement, speckling, and form from piece to piece
- Temperature changes: Ceramics handle daily use well, but sudden temperature shifts can cause thermal shock
Appliance guidance
- Dishwasher: Dishwasher safe, but hand-washing may preserve the surface better over a long time
- Microwave: Microwave safe for reheating. Avoid microwaving an empty piece.
- Oven/stovetop: Not recommended! Never place on a hot stovetop or near open flame
Utensil marks & surface wear
- Green Heron Ceramic glazes may show utensil marks over time - this is normal and cosmetic
- For stubborn marks, try a paste of baking soda + water and gently rub with a soft cloth. Abrasive scrubbers may dull the finish
Staining (coffee, tea, spices)
Some light-colored clay bodies and glazes can stain with heavy use - looking at my fellow caffeine addicts :)
- Rinse soon after use when possible
- For deeper stains, soak in warm water with a small amount of dish soap
- If needed, use a baking soda paste and rinse thoroughly
